Jordan: Hi, I'm Jordan Pruitt and I'm here in Canada singing for you guys.'
UMusic.ca: What have you been up to lately?
Jordan: Well, I just got off the High School Musical tour. It was a forty city tour and I was the opening act and before that I was on
The Cheetah Girls tour as the opening act so I've had a busy schedule.
UMusic.ca: What makes you "No Ordinary Girl"?
Jordan: I think the positive messege of the album kind of makes the ordinary girl the title because throughout the whole album it
tells stories about what I've experienced and what I've been through and still experiencing. I think it's a good messege to all girls
my age to try to strive to be the no ordinary girl because it's important to keep your morals and your values when you're growing up.
UMusic.ca: What does "Outside Looking In" mean to you?
Jordan: I wrote it in sixth grade because I was getting really left out. It was a tough time in school and I started it and at the first
writing session I brought it up. Of course I was like "Oh, it's awful" you know, but it turned out to be a great song and just a great
experience.
UMusic.ca: Did you bring a lot of your own life experience to this album?
Jordan: Definitely, I co-wrote 12 of the 14 songs on my album so you know for an example "Outside Looking In". That's like so, it's the
biggest I've experience out of all the songs. Let's see, "Later" is definitely about a guy that is into material things and just basically
saying if you're into that, see you later.
UMusic.ca: Is being part of the writing process important to you?
Jordan: Oh, definitely! I think it's very important to bring the writing, the writing part of it into an album because I think it makes it
more real as to when people just sing songs to they don't even know what they're singing about. It makes the artist more real
just like Natasha Bedingfield. She writes all of her own stuff and you get to know the person through their lyrics.
UMusic.ca: Have you always been a writer?
Jordan: I think I've always been a writer. I started writing when I was 9. I wrote my first song and I mean I didn't really think anything
of it because I didn't think I was good. I didn't think, obviously, this is crazy, so surreal right now, but then I started writing songs. My
first real song was "Outside Looking In".
UMusic.ca: Is your relationship with your family important to you?
Jordan: Definitely, because I was recording my album during the summer, this past summer and they had to move up from Georgia
to Nashville. I mean, they bought a house and like moved. Got up and moved and they moved all my stuff for me like how cool is that?
I was still up there so they're so supportive of everything I do.
UMusic.ca: What keeps you grounded?
Jordan: What keeps me grounded is probably all the support of people around me. I have this team that guides me and keeps my
head on my shoulders. Obviously, I mean I don't think I'll ever get used to this surreal life just because I mean you're in city from city
It's crazy, but it's, you know, obviously I have God in my life and a wonderful family, a wonderful producer, just great people.
UMusic.ca: Do you like being on tour?
Jordan: Oh, it's so much fun except the homework part, which I do have all A's, but...It's so much fun to get on stage every
night and sing.
UMusic.ca: What are you looking forward to the most?
Jordan: I'm probably looking forward to the Grammys because I've already picked out my dress. So I guess you can expect leopard
print dress at the Grammys.
UMusic.ca: What is your favorite part of all of this?
Jordan: Probably my favorite of part of everything that's happened...probably recording the album because you learn so much
as recording. You learn who you're working with and you find out so much information about the people you're working with.
You can get that close bonds. I'm going to be a little bit co-producing maybe on my third album. So that should be interesting.
I'm going to playing piano on the second one, even though I don't know how to play, but I'm going to learn!
Bye you guys and you can go get my album in stores now, everywhere!
